Within the different types of online poker in the Philippines, you will often see distinctions as to how their rules work. For example, the game might be an Omaha or a “Holdem”, and that can make a big difference in your strategies and how you gamble.
Let’s get familiar with the main characteristics and poker rules of those variations before you start to play!
Texas Hold’em
The classic style of poker and the choice of the majority of the beginners. Texas Hold’em has stages in which players have the community card revealed bit by bit and adjust their decisions accordingly.
It is important to try to come up with the best possible poker hand and, in some cases, even bluff. Some good examples of online poker with that variation are High-Hand Hold’em Poker, Caribbean Hold’em, Casino Hold’em Poker, and Texas Hold’Em Bonus!
Five-Card Draw
Players receive five instead of two cards, being allowed to switch up to three of their cards – like in the video poker games – and that is about it. Still, there is some room for strategies like trying to guess how good your opponent’s hand is.
Pai Gow Poker
Pai gow poker is a variation of the traditional Pai Gow game, in which you try to form the best possible hand using poker hand rankings as a reference. You have a total of seven cards to distribute as the highest and the second highest hand. In the end, you win if you beat the dealer with those cards.
Omaha
Omaha Poker is somewhat close to Texas Hold’em, but you get four cards in your hand instead of just two. Still, you can only use two of them to form a poker hand with three community cards, concluding a total of five. Also, the number of community cards and the total number of rounds is still the same.
Stud Poker
Stud poker varies in its rules according to how many cards you receive. In the seven-card stud, the most different one, you get seven cards, and there are two face-down cards. Four of your cards are facing up, and you get to make the best possible five-card hand.
Horse
H.O.R.S.E. is an online poker game that combines five variations into one: Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Razz, 7-Card Stud, and Eight-or-better Stud. Those five are played as separate and sequential rounds, so you need to be attentive so that you do not get confused with the rules.
Teen Patti
Teen Patti is a 3-card poker popular in India and available to play online in the Philippines. It is especially popular to play as a live version and starts with three face-up cards for the player’s hand and the dealer. In most versions, you decide whether to bet on the dealer’s or the player’s hand.
